MO Moran Dog Off Leash area sits on the St Kilda foreshore adjacent to St Kilda Marina and busy pedestrian paths that connect Marine Parade to St Kilda beach. This reserve is home to beach goers, fitness areas, dog walkers, cyclists and kite boarders. Whilst the community was initially divided on the decision to construct a dedicated dog off leash area, it has become a well used and much loved space by locals and visitors alike.

AJ Davis Reserve in Airport West has been revitalized into a welcoming, all-abilities destination that celebrates active play, community connection, and natural design. The upgrade delivers inviting pathways, sculpted embankments, and a rich mix of play elements— from slides, ropes and balance logs to boulders, spinners and cubby structures—set within lush native gardens. New shelters, accessible picnic areas, seating, and bike hoops encourage visitors to stay, while upgraded drainage and grading keep the space safe and usable all year.

The site for the Alcock dog of leash park was a large mounded space that had historically been formed during the construction of adjacent sports ovals and surrounding infrastructure. The intent was to turn this unused space into a thriving dog off leash park to ensure a growing number of residents had a space to safely engage with their dogs, family and community. Large areas of irrigated natural grass, gravel pavement, agility equipment and seating has allowed the space to be transformed into a much used and appreciated dog park for neighbouring and travelling residents.

Cliff Whitworth Dog off Leash park has a point of difference to many municipal dog parks, in that it is located in a quiet residential area. This offers the local community access to a safe area for their dogs to exercise and socialize, giving the users a sense of ownership. The park offers a dedicated small dog area, separate from the larger dogs, an agility course, expansive lawn areas, furniture and drinking fountain with dog bowl.

Pipeline Reserve Playground is an all abilities play space nestled in a large grass reserve, surrounded by mature trees and native vegetation. The park sits adjacent to private residences and is on the busy commute by foot, bike and scooter for may kids and their families on the way to a nearby primary school. Community feedback during the design phase was to create a safe place for all children but specifically children with autism and special needs. The finish product has been well received by the community and is a heavily used space by children of ages 3 to 16.

The landscape upgrade at WLJ Crofts Reserve in Altona North was the final stage to compliment a new pavilion, two new sports ovals and a car park. Our scope included a network of concrete paths throughout the site and around the new pavilion, an overflow carpark, a large playspace and associated planting and revegetation of grass areas. The site can be accessed off Blackshaws Rd and via a small laneway at the eastern corner adjacent to residents.

Gasworks Arts Park has a multi stage plan to upgrade it’s outdoor spaces to support the needs of Port Phillip Council’s changing and growing community. This open space supports a diverse range of uses and functions while providing a safe, welcoming environment that meets the needs of people’s physical, social and mental health. Stage One of the project was the implementation of a new playground to the south-west portion of the site.

Henderson Creek Wetland Playground

Designed by FFLA, the Henderson Creek Wetland Playground complements a busy precinct surrounded by native wetland plantings and pays tribute to the growling Frog that is native to the area. The project included structural and soft landscape components to link the adjacent community shops to the wetland and associated walking trails. We collaborated with City of Whittlesea through some D&C items to ensure design intent and practicality were both achieved.

Sol Green Reserve

Location: South Melbourne, Victoria
Client: City of Port Phillip

Duration: 14 weeks

Sol Green Reserve lies adjacent to City Rd in Melbourne’s CBD and has been a well loved and heavily used open space or local residents, and the neighbouring community centre for many years. The upgrade included a complete makeover of the existing playground, basketball court, grass open spaces and path network. The outcome is a vibrant play space, full size basketball and netball court with seating wall and all abilities play items nestled between existing mature trees and newly created garden bed plantings.
